iPhone Kupi dance trend: origin and timeline

By the iPhone Kupi Dance AI team · Updated

The iPhone Kupi dance is a roughly 15-second TikTok trend from late October 2026. A person holds a large foldable phone up to the camera, unfolds it, steps back, dances to the Russian song «Базовый минимум» by SABI and MIA BOYKA, and tosses the phone before a final pose. The name comes from the lyric «Айфон купи», “buy me an iPhone” (meaning explained).

The dance, beat by beat

TimeWhat happens
0-3 sPhone held close to the lens, then unfolded toward the camera
3-7 sStep back so the full body is in frame
7-11 sShort, playful dance on the beat
11-15 sPhone tossed up, caught or dropped, final pose

Most versions are filmed vertically in a hotel room or bedroom at night, matching the clip that went viral.

Who started it?

The creator most often credited is Win William (TikTok @win.william_official), whose clip captioned “iPhone 5555” is reported as posted on 23 October 2026. Fan and tool sites report it passed tens of millions of plays within a week. Thai media describe him as a TikTok personality and online seller. More on Win William.

Unverified: at least one article credits a different creator, Coco Vex (@thecocovex), with a similar clip captioned “Iphone cupin #iphoneduo”, while at least one tool site describes that clip as an AI remake. We have not been able to confirm which is right, or who choreographed the moves. View counts quoted online come from third-party pages, not from TikTok itself.

Why did it spread so fast?

  • Timing. It landed the same week the real iPhone Duo went on sale, so a comically huge fold-out phone was an instant joke.
  • A hook anyone can copy. Unfold, step back, dance, toss. No dance skills needed.
  • A catchy, mysterious lyric. Non-Russian speakers latched onto the one word they recognised: iPhone.
  • AI versions. Photo-to-video tools let people put themselves into the dance without filming, which multiplied the remakes.
